Systems Engineer

Team Horizon is seeking a Systems Engineer for a client in Limerick. This person will play a key role in cross-disciplinary product development teams, driving innovation from concept to launch. You may take the lead in defining, designing, and delivering Systems Engineering activities across every stage of the product lifecycle

    What you will be doing:

  • Lead systems-level design and development activities for both new and existing products.

  • Define and maintain system and product architectures, ensuring alignment with user needs and business goals.

  • Translate user and stakeholder needs into clear, actionable system requirements and interface definitions.

  • Drive traceability from requirements through design, implementation, and verification.

  • Lead system integration efforts, including defect tracking, configuration management, and risk analysis.

  • Plan and execute system-level testing, analyze data, and communicate findings through reports and design reviews.

  • Support verification and validation activities, including protocol development and execution.

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Reliability teams to ensure smooth product transitions and resolve field issues.

  • Facilitate cross-functional technical reviews and contribute to risk management activities (e.g., dFMEA, hazard analysis).

  • Apply creative problem-solving and critical thinking to resolve complex technical challenges.  Take the lead on systems-level design and development for innovative new products and enhancements to existing ones.

  • Shape and maintain product architectures that align with both customer needs and business goals.

  • Turn big ideas and user insights into clear, actionable system requirements.

  • Ensure every stage—from design to testing—links seamlessly through strong requirements traceability.

  • Drive system integration, managing defects, configurations, and risks with precision.

  • Plan and run system testing, review results, and share insights that guide design decisions.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to verify and validate designs, from protocols to final sign-off.

  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Reliability to deliver smooth launches and address any real-world challenges.

  • Lead technical reviews, support risk assessments, and champion safe, effective solutions.

  • Tackle complex problems with creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking.

    What you need to apply:

  • Experience in R&D for complex electro-mechanical systems (medical devices, diagnostics, lab automation, or similar).

  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering, from requirements to architecture, integration, and verification.

  • Proficient in designing experiments, analysing data, and drawing actionable insights.

  • Able to work through ambiguity and bring clarity in fast-paced, agile settings.

  • Excellent communicator and collaborator, able to influence across teams.

  • Proven ability to manage complex technical projects and deliver results.

  • Self-driven, curious, and eager to explore new technologies and methods
