Job Title: Customs & Trade Compliance Coordinator

Our client is a global leader in healthcare innovation, with a diverse network serving customers in over 160 countries. They develop pioneering solutions across medical devices, diagnostics, and nutrition, helping people live healthier, more fulfilling lives. Their diabetes care division designs, develops, and manufactures advanced blood glucose monitoring technology for both home and hospital use, including industry-leading continuous glucose monitoring systems.

Purpose of the Role
Make sure UK’s imports and exports follow all UK customs rules, trade laws, and Abbott’s internal policies (FP145). This includes preparing and checking the right paperwork, keeping accurate records, and working closely with brokers, affiliates, and other partners to ensure shipments are cleared correctly and on time.

Key Responsibilities



Follow Code of Conduct and core values in all work.

*

Work with brokers, Abbott teams, and external partners to ensure goods are imported/exported correctly and on time.

*

Prepare and review import/export documents and make any needed corrections.

*

Submit all required certifications and documents to government agencies on time.

*

Keep accurate logs for exports and create invoices when needed.

*

Review customs reports (MSS data), correct errors, and prepare duty spend reports.

*

Support VAT reconciliations for Finance.

*

Track and manage goods requiring export licences, including Northern Ireland shipments.

*

Maintain broker agreements and powers of attorney.

*

Manage returns processes where needed.

*

Keep product information (Item Master Log) up to date for all UK sites.

*

Classify goods for customs, determine country of origin, and apply trade agreements.

*

Store and maintain all customs records in line with policy.

*

Help review and update customs procedures and work instructions.

*

Answer general customs queries.

*

Follow health, safety, and environmental rules.

*

Keep required training up to date.

Qualifications & Skills

*

GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English preferred.

*

Strong literacy and numeracy skills.

*

Experience in logistics and import/export processes.

*

Knowledge of customs classifications (training provided by Abbott).

*

Comfortable working with large datasets in Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables, etc.).

*

High attention to detail and accuracy.

*

Good communication skills and ability to work with teams in the UK and internationally.

*

Adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
