The Health and Safety / Facilities Officer will be responsible for reviewing, developing, implementing, and monitoring the site's health and safety management systems to ensure the wellbeing of staff, visitors, and contractors. In addition, the role will provide support for facility-related activities at the Manchester site.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide support the site to achieve excellent environmental, health & safety (EHS) standards across the business, through management systems and continuous improvements.

  • Assist in the preparation of corporate EHS assessments/management plans.

  • Provide support with customer & corporate ESG group requests for information.

  • Follow up with line managers to obtain relevant information for things such as incident investigations, near miss reports etc

  • Assist with the development of EHS communications and training content as required.

  • Assist with internal audits in support of ISO9001, ISO13485 & H&S compliance.

  • Keep H&S Notice Boards up to date with relevant information.

  • Provide updates to site health & safety KPI data (reporting of accidents, incidents and near miss data)

  • Assist with writing SOP's and give guidance with risk assessments

  • Assist in preparing health & safety training for new starters

  • Take part in monthly health & safety meetings as part of the health & safety committee

  • Be point of contact (POC) for facility maintenance issues

  • Support site Manufacturing leadership team with initial POC for power outages, weather related hazards or alerts, liquid spills, plumbing issues or incident clean up, in line with site BCP

  • Organise & liaise with contractors carrying out repairs to site

  • Organise & liaise with site security contractor as required

  • Carry out fire drills and help maintain fire marshal list

  • Support the site leadership ship team with any facility / layout changes required

  • Organise first aid training for staff in line with current legislation

    What You’ll Bring

  • A recognized qualification in health and safety such as ISOH Managing Safely as a minimum

  • Working within an ISO 9001 Quality Assurance system & ISO 13485 - Quality Management for Medical Devices

  • An awareness of Training, Auditing, Compliance and Health & Safety with a desire to progress within this field

  • Experience of working with data producing different ways to present data

  • Ability to use Microsoft office suite of programs (Word, Outlook, Teams etc

  • Experience of working with a variety of stakeholders

  • Driven with the ability to get things done

  • The ability to work on a project alone with limited supervision

  • Qualified health and safety practitioner with recognized qualification – NEBOSH or equivalent.

  • Strong written and verbal communicator.

  • Self-motivated in the pursuit of EH&S objectives.

  • Ability to work as part of a larger team
