Private Hospital in St John's Wood, North West London

£75,000 - £85,000 per annum

Full time - 37.5 hours per week

Elite Search Associates are currently looking for a Head of Surgical Services to join a fantastic private hospital in St John's Wood, North West London.

The Head of Surgical Services is responsible for the clinical, professional and financial outcomes, including the day to day operational management of the Theatres, Recovery and Endoscopy with a key role supporting further development of Minor Ops. This role focuses on working with Consultants to ensure effective ways of working and increasing theatre utilisation. Additionally, the Head of Surgical Services supports the Endoscopy Lead to achieve JAG and develop and grow the service. A key aspect of this role is to develop a positive proactive cultural environment that fosters a safety first patient centred service that meets CQC and AfPP standards and supports workforce development. The Head of Surgical Services acts as the Medical Devices Safety Officer (MDSO).

Surgery is the key service provision of the hospital and this role is critical in the effective management of six new state of the art operating rooms and recovery over two floors as well as a dedicated Endoscopy room. The Head of Surgical Services also has oversight for the two Minor Ops Rooms.

  • £75,000 - £85,000 per annum

    Head of Surgical Services requirements:

  • Registered General Nurse or qualified Operating Department Practitioner

  • Relevant post basic qualification and experience e.g. cardiac, elderly care, orthopaedics medical course

  • Evidence of involvement in project management

  • Experience of quality improvement, audit and standard setting

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Confident, flexible and adaptable role model

  • Autonomous leadership/management style

  • Able to negotiate and influence at senior level

  • Proven management and leadership ability

  • Aware of nursing and national developments
