Animal Technician

Are you passionate about animal care and scientific research? We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Animal Technician to join our clients in vivo team. This is a hands-on role supporting both routine animal husbandry and essential administrative tasks associated with laboratory experiments. You'll be part of a collaborative and supportive team in a highly regulated research environment.

Key Responsibilities



Perform daily care and husbandry of laboratory animals (primarily rodents), ensuring high welfare standards.

Generate experimental documentation including study logs, folders, cage cards, and sample labels.

*

Support Home Office record keeping in line with regulatory requirements.

*

Assist with cage cleaning, facility sanitation, and preparation of consumables and equipment.

*

Perform health checks upon animal delivery (depending on competency level).

*

Ensure accurate record-keeping and archiving of study samples and documentation.

*

Maintain personal training records and uphold standards defined by the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.

What We’re Looking For

*

Basic knowledge of animal handling and welfare, ideally under ASPA guidelines.

*

Strong attention to detail and ability to work unsupervised.

*

Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

*

Flexible attitude with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

*

Experience in animal husbandry or a related scientific/technical background is desirable.

*

Qualifications such as GCSEs or BTEC National Diploma in science or animal-related topics preferred.
