Want to be part of a specialist engineering team where your work genuinely matters? You’ll be part of a team producing high-precision components for critical medical applications.

About the job

This is a hands-on, shop-floor focused role within the internal Quality Operations function, with real scope to improve processes, strengthen quality performance and drive continuous improvement across the site.

Working closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams, you'll take a proactive lead in identifying and addressing operational inefficiencies, reducing defects and improving process capability. You'll use data, structured problem-solving and Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies to deliver sustainable improvements across both product and process.

The role will also support the wider quality operation, including internal auditing, inspection and batch release activities, quality initiatives and the ongoing development of the site's quality systems and processes.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading root-cause investigations using 8D, DMAIC, 5 Whys and other structured CI methodologies

Taking a proactive lead in identifying and addressing operational inefficiencies across the site

Driving improvements to reduce defects, scrap, rework and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)

Analysing manufacturing and quality data to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement

Preparing and presenting data and improvement findings to relevant stakeholders

Developing a strong understanding of product vs. process performance and identifying opportunities to improve both

Applying SPC, Cp/Cpk and MSA to improve process capability and quality performance

Supporting and driving site-wide quality improvement initiatives

Managing the review, update and creation of internal quality documentation, SOPs and procedures

Participating in the daily Material Review Board (MRB) process and supporting effective resolution of non-conformances

Supporting internal auditing activities and ensuring actions are effectively addressed

Supporting validation activities including IQ, OQ and PQ

Supporting in-process inspection, final inspection and batch release processes

Maintaining compliance with ISO 13485 and relevant regulatory requirements

Supporting internal, external and customer audits

Working closely with Production and Engineering teams on the shop floor to identify and implement improvements

Supporting customer issue resolution and improving OTIF performance

Delivering quality training and awareness across the site

What you will bring:

3+ years' experience in Quality, Manufacturing Engineering or Continuous Improvement

A background in Continuous Improvement methodologies and structured problem solving

Experience within medical devices or another regulated environment, e.g. aerospace

Experience with SPC, Minitab or equivalent statistical tools

Experience analysing and presenting manufacturing or quality data

A strong understanding of product and process quality, with the ability to identify practical improvement opportunities

Experience with internal auditing, non-conformance management and quality improvement

A structured, data-driven approach to problem solving

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

The ability to influence and collaborate across functions

Experience with CNC machining would be advantageous

What's on offer:

25 days holiday + bank holidays

Company bonus scheme

A hands-on role with genuine scope to influence quality, processes and continuous improvement across the site
