The client customer spend 15% of its turnover developing new products within their large portfolio of products from large systems & instruments through to consumables.

This ideal candidate will have worked within the sector mentioned above and would be based somewhere in the UK.

This opportunity may well lead into Directorship level appointment withing a company who are extremely focussed on expansion and acquiring new market spaces.

Territory:- UK

National Sales Manager to take over a small team and expand, grow and develop the clients range of Endoscopic/Urology product range, there is full marketing and business support available, and existing database, and this role will require strong elements of new business sales to both large end-users and developing a strong distributor network – Definitely a Hunter NOT Farmer mentality.

There is opportunity for Sales Directorship and even Group Directorship, only you have proven your asset value.

Job Title: National Sales Manager of Endoscopy - Urology - Consumables

Role Overview

The National Sales Manager will be responsible for driving revenue growth and market share for our endoscopy consumable portfolio (e.g., biopsy forceps, snares, needles, clips, and Cholangioscope, and further new products). The primary focus is securing and maintaining positions on NHS Supply Chain frameworks while managing a field-based sales team to drive "pull-through" at the Trust and Health Board level and execute strategic commercial plans to ensure our products are the "standard of care" in GI suites across the country.

  • Key UK-Specific Responsibilities

  • NHS Framework Management: Lead the strategy for NHS Supply Chain tenders (e.g., Tower 4 or relevant Clinical Gastroscopy frameworks). Ensure the company is awarded "ranked" positions to allow Trusts to buy.

  • KOL Development: Build relationships with influential UK bodies such as the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) and JAG (Joint Advisory Group) accredited units.

  • Private Sector Growth: Oversee sales into private groups like Spire, Nuffield, and Ramsay Health, ensuring a "dual-track" strategy for both NHS and Private markets.

  • Team Leadership: Manage a team of Territory Managers across the UK (North, South, Midlands/Wales, and Scotland/NI).

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing for product launches and Supply Chain to ensure inventory levels match forecasted sales.

  • Global key exhibition support: If Group need our presence in certain exhibitions, it is our responsibility to support.

Procurement Knowledge Deep understanding of NHS England procurement, Shared Business Services (SBS), and Scotland/Wales/NI equivalents.

Experience 10+ years in MedTech, and at least 5 years leader experience specifically with Endoscopy high-volume consumables (Single-use vs. Reusable).

Credentials MIA / LSI National Credentialing (required for hospital/OR access in the UK).

Clinical Focus Experience with ERCP (Cholangioscope), EUS, and GI bleed products is highly desirable.

    Core Competencies

  • The "Consumable Mindset": Ability to manage high-volume, repetitive sales cycles rather than just one-off capital deals.

  • Analytical Rigor: Proficiency in CRM to track KPIs, pipeline health, and conversion rates.

  • Negotiation Skills: Experience navigating the complex "Value Analysis" process in hospitals to displace entrenched competitors.

  • Adaptability: A touch of wit and resilience to handle the fast-paced, often high-pressure environment of the Operating Room/Endo Suite.

    Performance Indicators (UK KPIs)

  1. Annual Revenue Growth: Total sales vs. budget.

  2. Trust Conversion Rate: Number of NHS Trusts that have switched to your consumable brand.

  3. Market Share vs. Spend: Tracking the "share of wallet" within specific ICBs.

  4. Team ROI: Managing the cost-to-sale ratio in a capped-price NHS environment.

  5. Sales Force Retention: Growth and turnover rates of the sales team

How Many Medical Technology Tools Do You Need to Know to Get a Medical Technology Job?

If you’re pursuing a career in medical technology, it can feel like the toolkit is endlessly long: imaging systems, data analysis software, regulatory platforms, testing frameworks, prototyping tools, CAD, quality management systems, signal processing libraries and more. Scroll job boards or LinkedIn, and it’s easy to think you need to know every tool under the sun just to secure an interview. Here’s the honest truth most hiring managers won’t explicitly tell you: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every tool — they hire you because you understand the underlying principles and can apply the right tool in the right context to solve real problems. Tools matter — absolutely — but they are secondary to problem-solving ability, clinical awareness, engineering rigour and the ability to deliver safe, reliable solutions. So how many medical technology tools do you actually need to know to get a job? For most job seekers, the answer is far fewer than you think. This article explains what employers really want, which tools are core, which are role-specific, and how to focus your learning so you look confident, competent and end-game ready.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Medical Technology Job Applications (UK Guide)

Medical technology (MedTech) is one of the most dynamic and high-impact sectors in the UK — spanning medical devices, diagnostics, digital health, AI-assisted systems, wearables, imaging, robotics and clinical software. At the same time, hiring managers are exceptionally selective because MedTech roles demand technical excellence, regulated safety awareness, clinical context and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Whether you’re applying for roles in R&D, engineering, quality & regulatory, clinical validation, product management or software development for medical systems, hiring managers don’t read every word of your CV. They scan it quickly — often deciding within the first 10–20 seconds whether to continue reading. This guide breaks down exactly what hiring managers look for first in medical technology applications — and how you can make your CV, portfolio and cover letter stand out in the UK market.

The Skills Gap in Medical Technology Jobs: What Universities Aren’t Teaching

Medical technology — also known as medtech — is transforming healthcare. Innovations in diagnostics, imaging, wearable sensors, robotics, telehealth, digital therapeutics and advanced prosthetics are improving outcomes and saving lives. As the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) modernises and a thriving life sciences sector expands, demand for medtech professionals is growing rapidly. Yet employers across the UK consistently report a frustrating problem: many graduates are not ready for real medtech jobs. Despite strong academic credentials, candidates often lack the practical, interdisciplinary skills needed to contribute effectively from day one. This is not a question of effort or intelligence. It is a widening skills gap between university education and the applied demands of medical technology roles. This article explores that gap in depth — what universities are teaching well, where programmes fall short, why the gap persists, what employers actually want, and how jobseekers can bridge the divide to build thriving careers in medical technology.
