Senior Quality Engineer / Manager

Location: Co. Mayo, Ireland
Salary: Up to €60,000 (DOE)
Job Type: Full-Time

Our client, a leading precision engineering company, is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer / Manager to lead their quality department. This role requires a strong and confident leader who can take full ownership of quality assurance and compliance, ensuring that all processes meet stringent industry standards.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain QMS in compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and ISO 13485, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspections, ensuring high-quality material/component release.
Manage calibration of measuring equipment and coordinate contract calibration services.
Conduct product inspections using measuring equipment such as borescopes, callipers, and gauges.
Train employees in quality control standards and procedures, ensuring consistent compliance across operations.
Manage material/component traceability using the company’s ERP system.
Monitor in-process scrap rates, generate reports, and support engineering teams to drive process improvements.
Maintain and update company registers, including calibration, CAPA, and approved suppliers.
Lead internal and external audits with customers, suppliers, and accreditation bodies.
Conduct in-process inspections and First Article Inspections (FAI) in line with procedures, drawings, and processes.
Analyse production and quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives, implementing methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimise processes and enhance product quality.
Oversee labelling, packaging, and shipping requirements, ensuring all regulatory and quality standards are met.
Manage supplier quality performance, including conducting supplier audits and evaluations.
Serve as the primary quality interface for customers, addressing quality concerns and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Ensure timely resolution of customer complaints and non-conformances, implementing corrective measures as needed.
Prepare and maintain detailed quality documentation, including inspection plans, process flow diagrams, and control plans.
Generate and present quality performance metrics and reports to senior management, providing data-driven insights for decision-making. 
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quality engineering, ideally within Aerospace, Medical Devices, or a similar precision engineering sector.
Strong understanding of machining processes and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
CMM programming and inspection experience is highly desirable.
Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, and ISO 13485 regulatory standards.
Strong leadership and project management abilities.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
Highly organised and detail-oriented.
