Atkins Search is actively recruiting for an experienced Project Manager based in Leicester to join a leading specialist contractor delivering interesting construction projects across the East Midlands.

This is a permanent role suited to a professional with a proven track record in managing new build and refurbishment schemes in the healthcare, commercial, and education sectors.

Our client is a privately owned, leading main contractor in Leicestershire, renowned for delivering complex construction projects to a high standard. They have grown year-on-year, with exciting projects and a secure pipeline of work, particularly in medical imaging construction. Their consistent growth is supported by strong frameworks and long-term repeat business, particularly within the NHS and private healthcare sectors.

With a brand-new regional office opening soon, this is a fantastic opportunity for a Contracts Manager seeking long-term stability and career development within the construction industry in Leicester.

Role

Operating as the Project Manager, you will be responsible for projects in the business with values of circa £8m. As the Project Manager, you will be supported by site delivery team to ensure quality and progress is maintained throughout delivery.

You will manage anywhere between 1-2 larger scale projects across the Midlands, which will be a mix of new build and refurbishment schemes. You will also be involved in the Planning and Design Coordination aspects of the projects.

Responsibilities

As a Construction Project Manager, you will:

  • Manage multiple interesting schemes across the Midlands region

  • Managing the efficient and economical execution of contracts under the main contract conditions

  • Ensure delivery is on time, within budget, and aligned with regulatory and client standards to promote on-going work with Site Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and external stakeholders

  • Manage site teams to deliver quality work across multiple projects with values of circa £8m

  • Promote the well-being of your teams and ensure that an inclusive workplace where diversity of thought, backgrounds and experience is actively encouraged and achieved

  • Ensure compliance with all construction regulations and health & safety requirements

  • Drive performance, efficiency, and productivity across the delivery team

  • Lead planning and scheduling phases for both new build and refurbishment projects

  • Represent the contractor professionally in all client and consultant meetings

    We are looking for a motivated and experienced Construction Project Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment and demonstrates a proactive, positive and confident leadership approach with strong communication skills.

    Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Project Manager in main contracting

  • Demonstrated experience delivering a mixture of projects including new build, fit-out and refurbishment projects

  • Strong understanding of UK building regulations and JCT/NEC contracts

  • SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid, and Temporary Works certified

  • Excellent organisational and delegation skills

  • Knowledge of contract conditions and law within the industry

  • Commercially aware with a focus on safety and risk management

  • Confident in leading multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites
