A market leader in the development of optical systems, assemblies, and components for demanding applications now requires a Principal Photonics Engineer to join their South Devon site.

Joining the R&D Team now is an exciting time to work within a multidisciplinary and cross-functional team developing new, cutting-edge products for applications in terrestrial and space-based optical communications, industrial sensing and biomedical imaging.

Your main responsibility will be the design and development of world leading fibre-optic and photonic components and devices using appropriate design tools and experimental test.

As Principal Engineer you will have an active involvement in prototype builds – including operating fusion rigs, fibre-optic splicing, mechanical / electrical assembly and opto-electronic test.

You will develop and execute test plans for functional and environmental qualification of components for high-reliability applications.

Support design modification and engineering changes to existing products

Working closely with the R&D Team and key stakeholders you will present results to both internal and external customers.

Experience:

This role would suit an experienced Photonics Engineer who is familiar with optical fibers, glass processing techniques, photonics.

Qualifications:

As the successful Principal Photonics Engineer, you should hold at least a Degree in Physics or Engineering and ideally a PhD in a relevant field such as Physics/Photonics/Optics.

Additional Information:

Candidates MUST be resident in the UK, and eligible to work and live in the UK. Copies of Passports and Visas will be requested for verification.
