Description of Role

Colbridge Ventures is a growth advisory firm for climatetech startups. We act as fractional commercial execs within clients' management teams to accelerate the growth and financing of early stage deeptech firms operating in the climate arena. We are all former founders and operators, with decades of commercial expertise, committed to supporting the development of technologies that combat climate change.

As we've grown beyond our existing capacity, we are looking for another Partner to take on some of our upcoming roles in Biomaterials and bring in new projects.

Key aspects of the role are:

  • Work alongside client management teams to refine commercial strategy, develop sales models, fill pipelines, test marketing channels, and structure partnerships
  • Write fundraising materials and support clients in delivering high quality pitches and securing funds
  • Build a deep and extensive network among climatetech VCs and accelerators
  • Reach out to climatetech startups to develop Colbridge's sales pipeline
  • Contribute thought leadership content to enhance Colbridge Ventures' stature as a go-to commercial partner for climatetech startups
  • Support the development of internal tools to enhance our collective effectiveness
  • Although most of our work is remote, you'll need to be based in Europe and expected to travel to London 2-3 times per year

The Partner team act primarily independently on specific clients. As an entrepreneurial position, you'd be expected to cover yourself through income from your own dealflow that we will help you bring in.

Ideal Candidate

  • You are a former climatetech founder or early employee who has successfully grown the company and seek to continue to work in hands-on roles within climatetech startups
  • You're looking for the challenge and thrill of being part of the leadership team of climatetech start-ups but without the all-in risk of being associated with being in just one
  • Have at least 3 years commercial experience in Biomaterials, working to grow the company and ideally helping to raise funds
  • You've led and mentored tech teams and ideally have some consulting experience
  • Some technical background, whether through a university education in science/engineering subjects or work experience in technical environments
  • You're whip smart, easy to work with, and have high energy positivity

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above
  • 3+ years' commercial and fundraising experience in Biomaterials startups
  • 10+ years' experience in commercial roles in the technology startup sector
  • Founder or early employee of a climatetech startup
  • Science/engineering academic background or substantial experience in science/engineering-based companies
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership, people management, and team building skills

Why Medical Technology Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Medical technology (medtech) is transforming healthcare in the UK — from wearable sensors to AI diagnostic tools, from surgical robots to telemedicine platforms. Advances in hardware, software, data and connectivity are enabling more personalized, efficient and accessible care. But with great power comes great responsibility. As medical devices and health technologies enter hospitals, clinics and consumers’ homes, professionals in this domain must master much more than engineering and algorithms. They must also understand law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design. That is, medtech careers are now deeply multidisciplinary. In this article, we explore why medical technology careers in the UK are becoming more multidisciplinary, how these five allied fields now intersect with medtech work, and what job-seekers and employers should do to succeed in this evolving ecosystem.

Medical Technology Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern MedTech Department

Medical technology (MedTech) spans everything from wearable health devices and surgical robots to diagnostic imaging, in-vitro diagnostics (IVD), digital therapeutics, AI-driven triage, and Class I–III medical devices. In the UK, the sector touches NHS care pathways, private providers, and global markets—with stringent expectations for safety, clinical evidence, cybersecurity, and data privacy. As ventures scale from prototype to regulated product, clear team structures become the difference between promising pilots and licensed, market-ready devices. Whether you’re hiring your first clinical specialist or applying for a role in QA/RA, this guide explains who does what in a modern MedTech department, how functions collaborate across the product lifecycle, UK-typical skill sets and salaries, common pitfalls, and best practices for building a resilient team.
