Johnson & Johnson MedTech | Orthopaedics are looking for an Education Manager in Spine for the UK & Ireland. The role will be based in Leeds, but candidates from across the UK will be considered.


Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone company, DePuy Synthes. The separation is expected to complete within 18 to 24 months. If you accept this position, you will become an employee of DePuy Synthes and will be governed by its employment processes, programs, policies and benefit plans.

Role Purpose

The Spine Education Manager plays a critical role in the Spine franchise for the UK & IRE. The role is responsible for creating a platform‑specific Commercial & Professional Education strategy in alignment with the GES Lead and Platform Business Leads, and for executing this strategy locally to support the franchise in delivering world‑class education that underpins the annual UK & IRE business plan. The position is also a key member of the Spine Platform Leadership Team for the UK & IRE, with a focus on ensuring 100 % confidence among healthcare teams and HCPs in patient outcomes.


Key Deliverables

  • Develop and deliver vision, mission and goals for the Spine Commercial & Professional Education programme, aligned to the platform strategic roadmap and business plan.
  • Coordinate the annual operating budget to deliver world‑class training that supports the annual Spine growth targets.
  • Assume leadership responsibility for ensuring necessary tools, policies and procedures are developed and integrated to support and comply with all legal, regulatory and HCC policies.
  • Create and execute the Spine team commercial education plan built through training needs analysis, ensuring alignment with global, regional and local strategy.
  • Design and deliver professional education events that ensure surgeon confidence in products and procedures.
  • Build associated KOL relationships to enhance the company’s education offering.
  • Deliver industry‑leading Commercial & Professional Education, distinguishing the UK & IRE business and adding value for customers.
  • Support the wider MedTech Commercial Education Plans, including onboarding.

Who Are We Looking For?

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience in Learning/Education, Marketing and/or Sales in Medical Devices.
  • Relevant platform clinical expertise & product knowledge.
  • Prior experience in Sales, Marketing, Professional Education, Adult Education, Sales Training, Strategy development and Analytics.
  • Proven ability to influence corporate leadership and partner with diverse multi‑functional teams across geographic boundaries.
  • Proven ability to understand business strategy; translate it into solutions that support the company’s business goals.
  • Proven leadership ability to effectively motivate and lead a team to success (including non‑direct reporting teams).
  • Experience leading significant business transformation and change‑management projects – delivered on time and within budget.
  • Strategy development and execution skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to develop internal and external networks.
  • Track record for Standards of Leadership traits.
  • Flexible and willing to travel frequently (approximately 40 % of time).
