Clinical Trials Officer - Gynaecological Oncology
  • Work with a high level of autonomy taking delegated responsibility from Consultants for clinical decision making
  • Be familiar with clinical trials and Gynae Oncology, and educate Trust staff about the trials. Promote recruitment of patients by ensuring screening of eligible patients occurs.
  • Seek out new potential clinical trials and liaise with relevant clinical staff to assess feasibility, complete expressions of interest for new trials as applicable and present at the R&D Council Meeting.
  • If required and following appropriate training take responsibility for the administration of experimental and / or unlicensed drugs. Be responsible for monitoring and reporting unpredictable adverse toxicities associated with these agents including the management of anaphylaxis.
  • Continuously evaluate toxicities and responses to treatments and collect data on quality of life and health economics
Main duties of the job
  • Work across all Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust sites recruiting patients to clinical trials.
  • Be experienced in Gynae Oncology and have experience in the field of clinical research.
  • Support safe conduct of research in accordance with the UK Policy Framework for Health & Social Care Research in accordance with the International Conference on Harmonisation - Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP) guidelines and to provide assurance that the rights, safety and wellbeing of trial participants are protected at all times.
  • Take responsibility for the co-ordination and management of clinical research projects, collaborating with key personnel throughout the network to ensure continued care and support for patients involved in clinical trials.
  • Responsible for the safe administration of drugs and for monitoring the expected and unexpected side effects of drugs and other treatment modalities.
