Children's Residential Support Worker

Location: North East, England

Pay Rate: £15.35 - £17.06 per hour (dependent on experience) + extra for sleep-in shifts

Hours: Full-Time |Shift Pattern: Long Days & Sleep-ins

About the Role

We are seeking empathetic, energetic, and resilientChildren's Residential Support Workers to join our dedicated team in the North East. You will be supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma, high emotional needs, or behavioural challenges, helping them build safe, stable, and fulfilling futures.

What a Typical Week Looks Like

Our shift patterns are designed around the routines of the young people, giving you dedicated days off between shifts to rest and recharge:

  • Shift Type: PrimarilyLong Days (e.g., 8:00 AM - 11:00 PM) combined withSleep-in shifts.

  • Daily Responsibilities:

    • Creating a warm, safe, and structured home environment.

    • Cooking meals, managing household tasks, and supporting daily routines.

    • Accompanying young people to school, appointments, hobbies, and day trips.

    • Offering emotional support, listening actively, and de-escalating challenging situations with care and patience.

    • Completing clear, accurate logs and handover notes at the end of shifts.

What We're Looking ForEssential:
  • Values First: A genuinely caring nature, strong patience, and a non-judgmental attitude.

  • Resilience: The ability to remain calm and supportive during emotionally challenging moments.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work long days, sleep-ins, weekends, and bank holidays on a rota system.

  • Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence is highly desirable (or essential depending on house location).

Desirable:
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).If you don't have this, we will fully sponsor and support you to achieve it!

  • Previous experience in residential care, youth work, special educational needs (SEN), or social care.
