Overview

We are currently partnering with an innovative and growing company based in Whiteley, who are looking to appoint a hands-on Support Technician to join their expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the intersection of field service, manufacturing, and product development, supporting a cutting-edge fleet of instruments while working closely with both customers and internal teams.

The Role

As a Support Technician, you will play a key role in the build, deployment, servicing, and continuous improvement of the company's instrument range. This is a highly varied, field-based role requiring regular UK travel, offering exposure to real-world environments and direct customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commission and install instruments at customer sites across the UK, including delivering user training
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and service equipment
  • Support the manufacturing process, including instrument builds and completion of detailed build records
  • Maintain and upgrade the internal instrument fleet, carrying out preventative maintenance
  • Accurately document service activities, faults, and corrective actions
  • Provide structured feedback to the R&D team to support product improvements and innovation
  • Contribute to the development of SOPs, work instructions, test procedures, and service documentation
  • Manage your own travel schedule and coordinate directly with customers and internal teams
What We're Looking For
  • Strong hands-on engineering capability with a practical, problem-solving mindset
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working with electromechanical equipment (ideally PLC-controlled systems)
  • Previous experience in field service and working within regulated environments
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly when working independently on customer sites
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for multi-day assignments
Desirable Experience
  • Background in medical devices or fluidics systems
  • Experience supporting product development or collaborating with R&D teams
  • Exposure to complex instrumentation or advanced electromechanical systems
What's on Offer

Opportunity to work with a forward-thinking, technology-driven organisation. High level of autonomy and variety in your day-to-day role. Exposure to both customers and cutting-edge product development. A collaborative environment where your feedback directly influences product innovation.
