Purpose

Our client are a digital health company that helps people better understand and improve their health through personalised testing, data and expert guidance. This role owns their organic search performance and AI search visibility. It exists to ensure the company is found - by Google, by Bing, and increasingly by the AI engines that are reshaping how people discover health providers. It inherits a body of existing audit work, plans and agency relationships and is accountable for taking them to the next level, executing at pace and building a scalable content programme through the right third-party partners.

It sits within the Growth function and reports into the Head of Growth.

Key responsibilities

Own SEO strategy and execution - inheriting existing audit outputs and plans, prioritising ruthlessly, and moving fast on implementation. Keyword architecture, on-page optimisation, technical SEO, site performance and structured data. Work closely with the Website Admin and engineering to ensure technical recommendations are implemented correctly and promptly.

Own AI search optimisation - ensuring content is structured to be read, retrieved and cited by AI engines including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Gemini. This means entity optimisation, schema markup, semantic content architecture, E-E-A-T signal strength and AI-readable content frameworks. Our client has the clinical credibility to perform strongly in AI search. This role ensures the site demonstrates it.

Own the technical and strategic brief for our partners -define which AI search and citation gaps are addressed internally / externally, which entities need authority building, how off-site citation work connects to and reinforces on-site signals. Produce this brief jointly with the Social, Organic & PR Lead, who owns the editorial and content side.

Brief and manage third party resource for scalable content production - set the editorial bar, quality-check output, and ensure every piece of content produced is structured to serve both search rankings and AI citation simultaneously. Volume is vital, but so is pace and cost-efficiency.

Monitor and report on organic search and AI search performance - organic traffic, keyword rankings, AI visibility and citation frequency. Feed SEO and AI search metrics into the CMO dashboard and use performance data to continuously refine priorities.

The person

Four to six years' experience in SEO, with a strong technical foundation — on-page and technical SEO, structured data, Core Web Vitals, crawl analysis, Google Search Console and GA4. Comfortable working with engineering and product teams to get technical recommendations implemented.

Actively upskilling in AI search and able to articulate a clear point of view on how LLMs decide what to surface and how we can win in that environment. You won't have five years of GEO experience because nobody does - but you will have been paying close attention and thinking about it seriously.

Analytical and execution-focused. You can assess a body of existing work quickly, identify what to prioritise, and start shipping. You are not coming in to audit what's already been audited. You are coming in to act on it..
