A Day in the Life

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Health Economics & Reimbursement Manager to join a leading medical device organisation. The successful candidate can be based anywhere within Europe while working closely with international teams.

This is an incredible opportunity to be a valued partner to Medtronic’s Coronary and Renal Denervation (CRDN) business in the EMEA region, expanding patient access to these technologies, developing clinical and economic evidence, health economic evaluations, value propositions and customer facing economic tools. In this role, the successful candidate will enjoy cross functional collaboration with global, regional and country reimbursement, marketing, clinical, government affairs, pricing and other functions across the organization.

The purpose of the role is to ensure patients have timely and equitable access to Medtronic Coronary and Renal Denervation (CRDN) technologies by shaping healthcare policy, securing reimbursement, and demonstrating the value of CRDN products, working in partnership with our key stakeholders across functions and regions. Our Health Economics, Policy and Reimbursement (HEPR) team leverages deep expertise in health economics, health policy, and evidence strategy.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Use your specialist knowledge of the specific market access environments in your region as well as health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) methodologies to build the right strategies to gain and maintain reimbursement and funding for Medtronic’s CRDN technologies
  • Build internal cross-functional as well as external partnerships with health policy and health economic experts and KOLs, to optimize market access strategies
  • Execute on the defined market access strategies to optimize Health Technology Assessments (HTA), Reimbursement applications, Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRG) funding mechanisms, Hospital- or Payer-level business cases and innovative funding schemes
  • Provide input to evidence development plans, including input to clinical study design, and measurement of healthcare utilization and patient-reported outcomes / quality of life
  • Execute health economic projects including cost-effectiveness, cost-utility, cost-of-illness analyses and budget impact analyses to support market access strategies
  • Develop product value stories and deliver regional value dossiers for effective and timely use in EMEA countries
  • Analyze and communicate clinical & economic evidence to target audiences within the region, including publication of research findings
  • Be an internal expert on regional reimbursement of coronary & RDN products and identify risks and opportunities for business planning processes
  • Provide therapy-specific and general reimbursement/Health economics education and training to key internal and external audiences within the region

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience or a postgraduate qualification with minimum of 5 years relevant experience
  • Experience in health economics, outcomes research or medical device technology assessment with a track record of successful reimbursement and funding applications in the health care environment
  • Good knowledge of the application, development and review of health economic models
  • Experience in conducting outcomes research projects and developing value propositions
  • Good knowledge of reimbursement systems in the EMEA region
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, an ability to work across cultures and functions, strong project management skills and results driven mindset
