Purpose of the role

We are seeking a multifaceted and highly skilled Ultrasound Sales & Clinical Specialist to drive the adoption and utilisation of our dedicated intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) and compatible ultrasound systems within the EP lab. This outstanding role blends deep clinical expertise with commercial competence. You will be the clinical and technical guide, responsible for educating healthcare professionals, providing procedural support, and driving the sales growth of our ultrasound portfolio across the UK.

What To Expect: Clinical Expertise & Support

  • Serve as the primary clinical guide on J&J EP ultrasound systems (e.g., Soundstar® ICE catheters, CARTO® 3 System integration) within assigned accounts.
  • Provide on-site, hands‑on clinical support and mentorship to physicians, nurses, and technicians during sophisticated electrophysiology procedures (e.g., AFib ablations, VT ablations, LAA closures).
  • Educate clinical staff on efficient system setup, image acquisition, interpretation, and troubleshooting to ensure outstanding patient outcomes.
  • Develop and deliver compelling clinical presentations and demonstrations to hospital staff, highlighting the clinical and economic value of our ultrasound solutions.
  • Collaborate with the broader J&J EP team to ensure a seamless and coordinated approach to account management and customer support.

What To Expect: Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and implement a strategic business plan to achieve and exceed sales targets for the ultrasound portfolio within your assigned territory.
  • Proactively identify and nurture new business opportunities, converting competitive accounts and growing usage in existing accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), physicians, cardiology department heads, and hospital procurement teams.
  • Handle the entire sales cycle, from lead generation and capital equipment quoting to negotiation and closing.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to advise commercial strategy.
  • Represent J&J at national and regional congresses, workshops, and symposia.

Who are we looking for? Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a Life Science, Biomedical Engineering, Nursing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Clinical Specialist, Applications Specialist, or Sales Representative within the medical device industry.
  • Deep, hands‑on clinical experience with ultrasound systems; specific experience with intracardiac echo (ICE) or transoesophageal echo (TEE) in an EP lab setting is helpful.
  • Strong understanding of electrophysiology procedures and cardiac anatomy.
  • Outstanding presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate a clinical audience.
  • Self‑motivated, results‑driven, and able to work autonomously to lead a territory.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 70%) across the UK and occasionally work flexible hours, including early mornings and evenings for procedural support.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Previous experience with the Johnson & Johnson CARTO® 3 System or other EP mapping systems.
  • Existing relationships with key EP centres and consultants in the UK.
  • Formal sales training and a documented track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
