This is an exciting new post for an individual with previous administrative and/or healthcare experience to work on a range of clinical research trials in the Research Team based at Bradford Royal Infirmary, and with the potential to work with different specialties across the Trust.

The role will involve providing administrative and patient facing support to the Clinical Research Teams across Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The postholder will work closely with the Clinical Research Nurses/Midwives, Research Matron and the multidisciplinary team to enhance and support the recruitment to clinical trials, thus facilitating a high-quality research service. The post holder would support both commercial, non-commercial and NIHR portfolio clinical research.

The post holder will be expected to interact with patients and their families in relation to the requirements of the clinical trials and be able to work without supervision in some areas.

Responsibilities
  • Work mainly with the ID, ICU, Vascular, ENT, Head and neck Research Team within Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to provide administrative and clinical support.
  • Assist in the evaluation of patient eligibility, in liaison with other appropriate health care professionals for clinical trial entry, involving the coordination of pre-study tests, obtaining results/X-Rays/scans, and arranging appropriate appointments as per clinical trial protocols.
  • Assist the coordination of the patient journey through the clinical trial protocol (requisition and organization of investigations, procurement of patient notes and reports).
  • Provide feedback to specific research teams and MDT members; manage own administrative caseload; and ensure timely completion of trial data and documentation in accordance with trial protocols.
  • Provide administrative support for research nurses as required; ensure office and clinic supplies are adequately ordered and stored for the smooth running of the trials.
  • Work within a designated Research Team and collaborate with other specialties to support clinical trial participants and maintain a high-quality research service.
  • Ensure that all members of the multidisciplinary team are aware of the current trials portfolio; undertake additional duties appropriate to the role.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

  • Good standard of education to a minimum of GCSE level
  • NVQ level 3 in Business Administration or Healthcare (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with BTHFT administration
  • Computer literate WORD, EXCEL

Knowledge Essential

  • A willingness to undergo personal development and learn new skills
  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality

Desirable

  • Knowledge of related clinical research
  • Knowledge or experience of Admin at BTHFT

Skills Essential

  • IT skills including use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Able to work on own initiative/Proactive approach
