HR Regulatory Affairs Associate – J.P. Morgan – London (ON SITE)
We are seeking an HR Regulatory Affairs Associate with banking regulations experience to join JP Morgan in London via the Robert Walters Consultancy for an initial 12‑month period.
Join the team that works on human resources (HR) aspects of regulatory initiatives impacting the firm’s legal entities in Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), including interpretation and implementation of financial regulations impacting the employee life‑cycle, regulatory submissions, examinations and supervisory interactions on HR topics.
As an Associate in the EMEA HR Regulatory Affairs team, you will work closely with the rest of the EMEA HR Regulatory teams, including the EMEA Regulatory Compensation team and the firm’s Global HR Regulatory Affairs team. You will partner closely with EMEA HR Country Heads and their teams, as well as key partners (including local governance teams, Control Functions and Finance) to drive consistency across the EMEA HR Regulatory agenda.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert on the HR regulatory requirements impacting the firm’s EMEA legal entities, reviewing, assessing the impact of those requirements on the firm’s businesses.
- Support EMEA HR in submissions and responses to regulatory queries, examinations and audits.
- Prepare responses to, and on occasion communicate with, the firm’s EMEA regulators as part of supervision of compliance by the firm’s local legal entities with applicable regulations.
- Lead and assist on associated projects with HR and/or Control Function partners to enhance, change or implement new policies or procedures to reflect change in regulatory requirements.
- Review, assess and project‑manage implementation of changes to the employee life‑cycle required as a result of EMEA regulatory and/or legislative requirements or expectations.
- Partner closely with the wider HR Regulatory and Cash Compensation teams to coordinate assessment and implementation of requirements.
- Participate in local governance fora representing HR, including board‑level meetings and committees.
- Educate and train the broader HR function on best practice, policies and external developments, particularly in respect of regulatory change.
- Develop deep knowledge of the firm’s organization and operating model, with the ability to build and strengthen partnerships across functions and locations in the EMEA.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Knowledge of key European regulatory frameworks impacting HR.
- Excellent writing skills in English.
- Excellent documentation skills to clearly and accurately articulate key decisions and rationale.
- Ability to understand and navigate a complex regulatory environment.
- Ability to articulate complex issues concisely and communicate effectively and comfortably with different levels of seniority, including experience of preparing papers for and presenting to Boards/Committees.
- Ability to work across multiple teams and stakeholders, integrating information and clearly articulating impacts and solutions.
- Takes initiative and is proactive in raising issues or identifying opportunities for partnership and operational excellence.
Desirable Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Experience within an HR Regulatory, Legal or Compliance function.
- Direct experience working with EMEA regulators.
- Excellent writing skills in German.
